The Norwegian makers of online browser Opera is offering the payday for those prepared to browse the web for fun, although their activity will be live-streamed on the company's social media channels.

The chosen candidate will have two weeks to complete tasks such as watching baby animal videos, hunting for memes and researching unusual topics.

Maciej Kocemba, product director at Opera, said: "This might seem like a joke - but it really isn't. We are indeed hiring a person to just surf the web and actually get paid for it. What we are looking for in a candidate is the unpolished truth, we want someone who has the guts to share their online experience with the world."

Potential applicants are being asked to record a brief video where they discuss the most important moment in their browsing history.
