The popular video-hosting website went down for more than an hour earlier this week, and according to Tyler Glockner, the much-discussed blackout was the work of NASA and the US government.

He said on the YouTube channel secureteam10 that a video had been posted which posed a threat to US national security.

Tyler explained: ''YouTube was taken offline at the demand of the government and other organisations.

''Apparently, just before the outage, a video had been posted where a man in a uniform stated to the camera that something was about to hit the moon.

''The video was trending, getting thousands of views, then the outage happened. NASA's usual go-to when something like this happens is to just cut the stream or go offline.''
