Brantley Harrison found the wounded baby animal after it was assaulted by an owl near his home in South Carolina and he decided to nurse the creature back to full health.

Rather than go back to its habitat for good, the squirrel - which the Harrison family named Bella - has come back every day for years expecting to be fed, and even plays with their dog Cid.

Brantley explained: ''Bella sits right at the front door waiting for someone to notice she had come by for a visit.

''She has even resorted to jumping over the dining room window to peer in for someone to see her.

''She comes almost daily for a little loving, treats, and to torment our dog, Cid, through the glass door.''
