Arlene Chmelyk - from Fort Nelson in British Columbia - has explained how her family have discovered that aggressive local deer find 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed White-Tail' irresistible.

Chmelyk shared a video of a recent assault on the decoration on Facebook.

She told CBC News: "Every year a buck in the area attacks him or hits and knocks him over and breaks him."

Chmelyk admits that she was surprised that the deer aren't put off by the glowing red nose that her husband placed on the decoration.

She said: "I'm like, he has a bright red nose. I'm not really sure what they see."

Chmelyk believes that the deer may only be paying attention to the antlers because they are in the breeding season and says that her family will continue to display Rudolph despite the repeated attacks.
