Curtis Zimmerman drunkenly challenged his son to an arm wrestle before grabbing his firearm and shooting bullets after losing repeatedly.

Police were called to the scene in Kentucky but Zimmerman refused to comply with them, leading to a stand-off that lasted eight hours.

In a Facebook post, the Boone County Sheriff Department said: ''Deputies learned that Zimmerman was intoxicated and challenged his juvenile son to an arm-wrestling contest. When Zimmerman lost multiple times, he became agitated which led to a physical altercation with his son.

''Zimmerman grabbed a firearm and as his son was going upstairs, Zimmerman fired two shots inside of the house. Zimmerman stated that he fired the shots into the ceiling.''
