The Edmonton Fire Rescue Service (EFRS) revealed that a crew was called out earlier this week after witnesses reported a pooch alone inside a moving vehicle.

EFRS crew members explained that the canine had been left in the car by its owner and had accidentally put the vehicle in gear, causing it to roll down the road.

Spokeswoman Brittany Lewchuk told CTV News: "It appears that the dog had popped the vehicle into neutral causing it to move."

Fortunately, the dog was removed from the vehicle without causing any harm.

Lewchuk said: "The dog was rescued and there are no reported injuries to the dog or citizens."
