The turquoise and yellow macaw - called Jessie - was stuck on a roof in Edmonton, North London for three days before London Fire Brigade were finally called to help after both the owner and RSPCA were unable to coax her down.

As reported by the Metro, the owner told the firefighter heading up the ladder to say ''I love you'' to win over the feathery friend - but he was met with a barrage of abuse.

The fire station's watch manager Chris Swallow said: ''Jessie had been on the same roof for three days and there were concerns that she may be injured which is why she hadn't come down...

''We then discovered that she had a bit of a foul mouth and kept swearing, much to our amusement.''

Eventually, the bird simply flew off the roof down to her owner - and the fire brigade encouraged people to follow the correct route with similar issues.

A spokesperson said: ''As with this incident, the RSPCA should be contacted in the first instance and we would always urge people to do the same if they see an animal stuck or in distress.

''If the RSPCA require our assistance, they will call us and we are happy to assist with our specialist equipment.''
