A wife has been left furious after discovering her 18 carat gold ring was actually made from brass.
The unnamed woman had worn the £99 ring from Argos since her wedding day in 2004, with no idea that it wasn't made from gold.
The 55 year old, from Headington, Oxfordshire realised the ring was not made from the precious metal after it snapped while being resized in June - and the jeweller sent it to be tested.
The woman was dubious so sought a second opinion, only to have the same thing told to her again.
The second jeweller said: ''The item has been tested and in my opinion the metal is no better than 9ct yellow gold.
''It has been incorrectly stamped or the marks are false.''
