Researchers have found that those who avoid new foods are less desirable than those who are prepared to tuck into unfamiliar dishes.

Experts carried out four experiments and came to the conclusion that people who are willing to try new food were judged to be more adventurous in bed by potential partners than picky eaters.

Dr. Hannah Bradshaw, who led the study for Washington and Jefferson College in the United States, said: "Food plays such an important role in dating.

"Our results show that people make judgements about potential partners' sexual desirability based on whether said partner is willing to try new food."

Bradshaw added: "Being unwilling to try new food may make one seem less sexually desirable and more prudish.

"This isn't necessarily a bad thing. If you're on a date with someone you're not that into, you could order something boring."
