The new service - called #YayDelay - uses an intelligent algorithm to monitor the train delays and any tweets containing the hashtag in order to unlock half price or free Gordon's London Dry Gin & Tonic's for the commuters.

This service launches this Friday at Waterloo and Gordon's plan to go live in other stations across the country throughout the whole year.

People travelling between 5-6pm this Friday can keep checking the www.yaydelay.com website to see the volume of train delays and tweets which can trigger a free alcoholic beverage.

On average Brits spend more than 3.6 million hours waiting for delayed trains between 2016 and 2017.

Now Gordon's are hoping to make commuters happier with their journeys and are using technology created by Eagle Eye which will respond to real-time social media spikes.
