A Siberian Husky has been reunited with its owners after being stolen five years ago.

The seven-year-old dog called Azula was taken from New Mexico to Riverside, California, but has finally be reunited with its family after being found wandering the streets.

John Welsh of by the Riverside County Department of Animal Services revealed the mutt was found by a local who dropped her at the Western Riverside County Animal Shelter in Jurupa Valley.

The husky's owner was found through the dog's microchip.

Jezus Vigil, Azula's owner, had feared the worst and assumed the canine had passed away.

Welsh said: ''Mr. Vigil said he was thrilled when he was told his dog was alive.

''However, he said he was amazed to learn his pet somehow ended up in the Golden State.''
