An Italian man tried to dodge the Covid vaccine by using a fake arm.

The man arrived for his jab with a silicone mould covering his real arm in the hope that he could obtain a vaccination certificate without actually getting the shot.

However, a nurse rumbled the plan when she found the skin "rubbery and cold" and noticed that the pigment was "too light".

Police are now investigating the incident which occurred in Biella, north-west Italy, and the man's actions have been criticised by local officials.

Albert Cirio, the head of the Piedmont regional government, said in a statement on Facebook: "The case borders on the ridiculous, if it were not for the fact we are talking about a gesture of enormous gravity."

The man was reportedly a health worker who had been suspended from his job because he wasn't vaccinated - with the jab mandatory for all healthcare workers in Italy.
