Mark Rofe, 30, plastered himself on a Manchester billboard after becoming fed up with online dating and seeing all his friends get married, and he has since had more than 2,000 applications - claiming one had even come from Maya Jama.

Announcing the news on Twitter, he wrote: ''It feels odd sharing my love life, but since people keep asking. I do have my first date arranged for Valentine's Day.

''I thought the best approach would be to break it down and go through the applications bit by bit, and I've started with the first 100 so far.''

Mark decided to close the applications after 2,363 people signed up.

He posted on his website: ''This was never about how many people I could get to apply to date me, so I've decided to close applications because I am confident that the person for me is among those that have already applied (and I WILL find you).''
