Motown singer David Largie was booked by the people at Trentham Monkey Forest on Sunday (06.02.22) to get them in the mood for love.

Matt Lovatt, the park director, told the Mirror they thought it would be a “creative way to encourage our females to show a little affection to males that might not have been so lucky in love.”

"Females in season mate with several males so paternity amongst our furry residents is never known."

In 2009, Barbary macaques - the monkeys at the intimate concert - were classed as ‘endangered’ after being ‘vulnerable’

In their native Morocco and Algeria, they face threats from many things, such as the prop photo trade popular with tourists as roughly 200 to 300 are taken from their mothers in the wild to satisfy demand.

Matt continued:"Barbary macaques are species that you might find in zoos and other attractions, but often they’re animals that have been rescued from the pet and photo prop trade.”
