The capital city, Vilnius, has billboards showing men, women and children wearing the protective face coverings as part of the event. All Lithuanians are required to wear masks outside to prevent the spread of the virus.

The designs were selected by members of local Facebook group 'Mask Your Fashion' and was set up by fashion designer Julija Janus.

She said: ''A mask is a good way to display your creativity, to express yourself. And it's a good activity to do when you're sitting at home with the kids.''

Those featured in the display include local artists, musicians and even the mayor of the city.

Julija revealed that the billboards display both custom-sewn designs and surgical masks with designs painted on them.
