The bird has been spotted roaming by disc golfers on Wednesday (29.04.20) but has now been ''apprehended'' by local authorities.

Jared Webley, from the Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service, revealed that the animal's owner soon contacted them after seeing the missing bird on the news.

He joked: ''It was sick of the stay-at-home order I guess.''

The bird was spotted at the High Bridge park in Spokane, Washington, where witnesses claimed that it wandered close to people walking and playing disc golf.

Rescuers were able to trap the animal in a cage and it is believed that the emu escaped from a nearby farm.
