The animals assaulted the health worker and fled with blood samples from coronavirus tests, sparking fears that they could have spread the virus in Meerut, India.

The Times of India reports that a monkey was spotted in a tree chewing one of the sample kits. Footage of the incident also went viral on Twitter.

The sample kits were later recovered and had not suffered any damage, according to Meerut medical college superintendent, Dheeraj Raj.

Raj added that the three people whose samples were stolen had been retested for coronavirus.
