The runaway porkers, thought to be Vietnamese Pot-bellied pigs, stormed the course at Lightcliffe Golf Club and hurt both a golfer and the greens director.

The pigs also disrupted play by "pushing golf trolleys and bags over" with bosses at the nine-hole course in Yorkshire revealing that the animals emerged from woodland at the bottom of the course before attacking a member.

Clubhouse director Judith Crowther told the BBC: "He got a scratch on his leg so had to go to A&E and have it cleaned out really well and get some antibiotics."

The pigs returned days later and were on the loose for several hours, with one porker injuring the greens director.

Crowther added: "We had to close because they were wandering around and took over the course.

"They ended up outside the clubhouse on the ninth green and didn't seem to want to go away."
