A new scientific study put four hogs to the test and the findings revealed that the animals found a connection between the joystick and the game.

Hamlet, Omelette, Ebony and Ivory were required to use the joystick to steer an on-screen cursor into walls.

The pigs were able to complete several levels of the game and even continued when their food reward dispenser broke.

Lead author Dr. Candace Croney told the BBC: "This sort of study is important because, as with any sentient beings, how we interact with pigs and what we do to them impacts and matters to them."

Kate Daniels, who works on a farm in Worcestershire, believes that the findings shouldn't come as a shock to those used to the animals.

She said: "I don't think this will come as a surprise to anyone that works with pigs.

"They're not playing Minecraft - but that they can manipulate a situation to get a reward is no surprise at all."
