The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have confirmed that a pilot contacted air traffic control on Wednesday (28.07.21) to report the strange sighting.

A Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson told KABC-TV: "A Boeing 747 pilot reported seeing an object that might have resembled a jetpack 15 miles east of LAX at 5,000 feet altitude.

"Out of an abundance of caution, air traffic controllers alerted other pilots in the vicinity."

The FAA have said that no unusual objects were spotted on the radar at the time.

The incident follows a number of similar sightings towards the end of last year, as a video captured in December showed something resembling a man wearing a jetpack over the Los Angeles sky.

Investigators suggested that the object could have been a drone that had been constructed to resemble a person.
