A priest has slapped a baby during a baptism because he wouldn't stop crying.

A short clip posted online shows the French clergyman start to get frustrated as the child starts screaming during the ceremony.
At the start of the baptism, the priest begins with the normal proceedings saying: ''I'm going to put water on the forehead, and after I'll embrace the little man, because he will have become a little Christian.''
However as things take a turn for the worst, he's heard telling the distressed baby to ''calm down'' and then slaps him on the cheek with his left hand.
Family members at the service look visibly shocked with one person shouting: ''Don't hit the kid''.
This doesn't seem to phase the cleric as he is then seen firmly gripping the infant's head, despite the mother attempting to get him to loosen his hold.
The clip cuts off just as the father manages to step in and pull the baby away from the priest.
