The red team (minus Joe) arrived in the Home Camp.  Their fire was lit and they soon spotted camp beds and two beds in the bus.  They investigated and decided that Joe and George should have the beds in the bus.  Martina led a round of applause for Joe as he returned victorious to the camp.  ‘Bravo, thank you’ said George. ‘Joe is our hero.  We are very lucky.  We are blessed to have Joe on our team’ he continued later. Joe explained the challenge and confessed that he ‘screamed like a girl’.

However, not everything went swimmingly for the victorious team as George fell during his trek into the jungle.  ‘I got a little exhausted and I fell down and there was a small tree that I got caught in my crotch. That’s what stopped me. I thought I’d give you guys a little thrill’ he joked afterwards.

The yellow team made their way to the Away Camp little knowing what lay ahead.  They were optimistic that Simon would have won the challenge for them.  However, when they got to the camp, the realisation that they were not the victors hit home.

Esther jollied along the troops and said ‘You’ve got to be prepared to be nice.  He would have been terrific’ referring to Simon.

However, Nicola who was leading the campers exclaimed ‘Oh My God’.  And Robert simply stated ‘he lost.’  ‘It was pretty depressing for all of us’, he later confessed.

Nicola said ‘I’m not a camper. Either way it was going to be crap. I doubt that they are going to be living in luxury.’

The Away Camp was strewn with jungle rubbish, had no fire and worse of all had no beds meaning that the celebrities would have to sleep on the jungle floor.

Carly read instructions that told the team that they would have to clear, boil, and sterilise their own water, eat rice and beans – and the list also forewarned that there would be further disadvantages to follow.

As the celebrities struggled to light the fire, Robert and Carly could barely hide their annoyance where as Esther and Nicola were more supportive of Simon. ‘I wonder where he is poor lamb’ said Esther.

‘Where’s Simon, he’s responsible for this. He should be with us’ joked Robert.

They still were not able to light the fire. Esther and Nicola eventually found the flint and Nicola worked out how to use it as Robert finally got it started.

Robert later said in the Bush Telegraph ‘There are no recriminations. I don’t think anyone seriously blames him in any way but there may have been some kind of residual feeling of disappointment in him. I thought he would deliver.’
