A school has banned 'Harry Potter' books after a priest says the curses and spells are real.

The Nashville institution has removed all of the books in J.K. Rowling's hugely popular wizarding saga - which includes seven novels and a number of spin offs - from its library after its pastor, Reverend Dan Reehil, consulted with exorcists in Rome and America.

The novels contains spells used by the fictional characters for levitation (Wingardium Leviosa), tickling (Rictusempra) and even conjuring bandages (Ferula).

Reverend Reehil said: ''These books present magic as both good and evil, which is not true, but in fact a clever deception.''
