Kennett High School in New Hampshire will allow graduates to ride the ski lifts to receive their diplomas, as traditional ceremonies have been cancelled due the coronavirus pandemic.

The school contacted the nearby Cranmore Mountain Resort, which agreed to host the ceremonies for free.

Principal Kevin Carpenter said: ''The response so far has been very positive. Most families wanted an in-person experience and not just a virtual ceremony or a drive up ceremony.''

Carpenter also praise the local community for helping the graduates bid farewell to school in style.

He said: ''As a principal, this makes me so proud. Our community is such a caring and giving one, and to see so many parts coming together to help make this happen for our kids is so heartwarming.''
