Saniniu Laizer earned £2.4 million from the African nation's mining ministry for the gemstones in the biggest ever find in Tanzania.

Laizer - a father to over 30 children - said: ''There will be a big party tomorrow.''

Tanzanite is only found in northern Tanzania and is one of the rarest gemstone on Earth.

Laizer, who was congratulated by Tanzanian president John Magufuli by phone on the discovery, has vowed to invest his newly-earned millions into his local area.

He told the BBC: ''I want to build a shopping mall and a school. I want to build this school near my home. There are many poor people around here who can't afford to take their children to school.''
