19-year-old Jasmine Dagless dropped the connection to the Swedish furniture mega chain - which her mother was inspired to give her after seeing an ad for it - now goes by her middle name, which was picked out by father.

Jasmine - detailing the cruel taunting - said: “I used to get called flat pack quite a lot at primary school.

She said it “shocked” her because she was confused how kids knew about the shop.

Jasmine continued: "The bullying really shocked me because young children don't know about Ikea. I legally changed my name when I was in secondary school.”

However, she detailed that her family has stuck with her original name and nickname since she swapped it out at age 12.

"It's only legally that I get called Jasmine. My family still call me Ikea, or 'Kea' for short."

The name didn’t just bring pain but also a few freebies - a sofa for Jasmine’s mum and a toy - from the shop.

Jasmine revealed: "When I was younger my mum got a letter from Ikea that basically said we could get furniture and toys free of charge.

"I got a few toys and my mum got a sofa."

The NHS administrative assistant hasn’t been back since childhood but “really” wants to go back.
