A man claiming to be a time traveller from the year 6491 has passed a series of lie detector tests.

Man from the future?

Man from the future?

The mystery man - known as James - has insisted he came from the distant future in a time machine, and made some bold predictions about what the next 3,000 years could hold.

In a clip posted on YouTube, he is contacted to a fairly low-tech lie detector, but passes all the tests to 'prove' his legitimacy.

He claimed by 6591, every home has an advanced AI system carrying out basic tasks, which can also recognise when different people give it commands.

Given the rise of devices like Amazon's Echo, that may not be too adventurous a claim, but he also suggested the world would be ruled by one government - like the United Nations - but each country would still have some level of control over its own affairs.

Meanwhile, so-called time traveller - who has split opinion online - insisted mankind had made contact with other distant worlds, and will go on to colonise many planets across the galaxy.

He said: ''Most [space explorations are] just nothing, every once in a while though you find some life on planets and hit the jackpot and other times you don't.''
