Rens have launched an online fundraising campaign for the sustainable trainer, which the firm claims will be climate neutral in its production, packaging and transport.

The Nomad shoe is made from coffee waste and recycled plastic bottles and have recycled polyester for the membrane so they are waterproof.

Son Chu, the co-founder of Rens, said: "Shoes made from recycled coffee may seem novel, but we believe that this is just the beginning of a revolution in garment technology and manufacturing."

This is the second shoe the company have produced to eco-friendly specifications, after releasing a general-purpose trainer made from the same items in 2019.

Jesse Tran, co-founder and CEO of the firm, said: "With the new model, we are continuing our mission to promote sustainable fashion.

"We are particularly pleased that we were able to include the feedback from our previous customers, who explicitly requested a performance sneaker."
