A woman spent months caring for a plant - only to discover that it was actually a weed.

The unnamed individual watered and fed the plant in her garden but made the discovery and decided to keep it after doing some research to identify the species.
The woman shared the findings onto a Facebook gardening group to give social media users ''a good laugh''.
She wrote: ''Might as well post this... Give you all good laugh...
''I've been watering and feeding this pot for months, well since last year... And I've just realised...
''It's a WEED. But I've done some research and it does have pretty purple flowers so I'm keeping it.''
Other users remarked on how they made similar mistakes with their plants.
