A group of women in Oaxaca, Mexico, married trees in order to protest illegal logging.
One of the ''brides'', Dolores Leycigi, said the ceremony was to make a statement about the planet's dwindling future and, although the marriages aren't legally binding, the women still take the ceremony as a serious commitment.
Speaking to Ruptly news agency, she shared: ''Marrying a tree is a way of protesting, to say that we need to stop exterminating Mother Earth every day, every minute, every second, I thought it was very interesting that we have a commitment, not only with this tree, but with all of nature, I thought about how much we've already damaged nature, so I decided to come and get married.''
