Wisdom the albatross welcomed her baby last month on the Midway Atoll in the North Pacific.

The bird was banded by experts back in 1956 and has outlived the person who classified her over six decades ago.

Wisdom's current mate is a male albatross called Akeakami but experts believe that she has had other breeding partners in the past.

US Fish and Wildlife biologist Dr. Beth Flint told Sky News: "At least 70-years-old, we believe Wisdom has had other mates.

"Although albatross mate for life, they may find new partners if necessary, for example if they outlive their first mate."

Biologists say that Wisdom has hatched more than 30 chicks during her life - with the species only hatching eggs every few years.
