Aimee Elizabeth is worth £3.9 million but goes to extreme measures to avoid splashing the cash - including eating food meant for felines instead of buying tins of tuna.

Elizabeth also feeds her human guests the revolting dish and admits she "doesn't care" how others feel about her thrifty habits.

Speaking on TV show 'Extreme Cheapskates': "When I go to these extremes I think people see it and it annoys a lot of them but I don't care.

"It saves money."

The Las Vegas resident gives herself a monthly budget of £750 and has a number of methods to stay within the limit.

Elizabeth explained: "I keep my water heater turned off, I need 22 minutes to heat it up enough to get a shower so I turn it on every morning when I get up.

"I set it for 22 minutes so I know exactly when my shower's ready because God forbid I waste another minute on that water heater."
