What can you tell our readers about your current novel Switch?

It is about drug dealing, art forgery and an MI5 agent getting hung out to dry....

2. You have been a colmnist for GQ and the Daily Telegraph, how does this compare to novel writing?

Not at all - writing a novel means you have to disappear and get your head into a different place - writing for newspapers and magazines is more like writing an essay - and sometimes about as much fun - although when a really good subject comes along for newspaper piece, that is also satisfying...

3. You manage a fertility clinic by day, so when did you decide to write a novel?

Freelance advisor to clinic - this is my second novel - I like the escape of living in the world of a novel -

4. You studied at Eton, what was your discipline?

Chemistry, Biology and Geography - I thought I was going to be a farmer - wish I'd studied English Literature...

5. Who have been your biggest influences in your own writing?

My wife who is a tough editor - Ian Wooldridge who was was the greatest sports writer ever,

6. Who do you most like to read?

David Lodge, at his best with Therapy. I like Jeremy Clarkson's columns for all the reasons other people like them....and AA Gill is deadly when he's on form.

7. Where did you inspiration for the book come from?

From talking to MI 5 agents about what happened to them

8. What is next in store for your fans?

Absolutely no idea although I'd like to do something with Max Ward again - he needs to start tieing women up in bedrooms by the look of things.....

9. Jeremy Clarkson said that the book was 'a turbo charged race to the finish', how does it make you feel to have a celebrity following?

Is Jeremy Clarkson a celebrity???? He is an extremely good writer, I know that...
