The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse

Alison Moore releases her new book He Wants today, so we take a look back at one of her last novels, The Lighthouse.

In this video we see Moore reading an extract from the book at the East Midlands Book Awards 2013 where she was shortlisted for the prize, as well as a video of accolades from reviewers from an assortment of publications.

The Lighthouse opens on a North Sea ferry; Futh is a middle aged and recently separated man who is heading to Germany to a walking holiday to take his mind off things.

He stays in Hellhaus, where he meets a lovely landlady and a less than lovely barman.

Futh takes a walk the following day and begins to ponder over his life and his relationship with the son of neighbour, his failed marriage and his parents. He keeps returning back to the thoughts of his mother who abandoned him when he was young.

He returns after a week of walking only to find that all has not been so calm in the Hellhaus while he has been away.
