There's something incredibly exciting about mystery subscription services. Having something fresh and unique delivered to your door throughout the year makes it feel like Christmas straight through from January until December. So, when I was offered the opportunity to check out the My Chronicle Book Box service, I jumped at the chance.
Currently offering a choice of two genres - crime and mystery, or sci-fi and fantasy - I opted for the former. I'm an utter crime junkie and love trying to figure out exactly what's going on in a novel of this type before reaching the end. I'm rarely correct, but that's all part of the fun.
Unlike some other services, My Chronicle Book Box only goes out four times a year (every three months), but that's because it's packed full of goodies which should see you through until your next delivery.
Each box contains three new novels, exclusive author content including signed books, book plates and interviews, and a selection of themed items. These could be anything from a tea towel to a bookmark; the curators are consistent in keeping subscribers on their toes!
In this crime and mystery box, there were two paperback books along with a hardback; a selection of interviews; a signature from authors involved; and a brilliant 'Book lovers never go to bed alone' drinks coaster, as well as an Agatha Christie-themed tea towel. You can check it all out below:
What really matters to me is the style of packing with these sorts of services. They need to look elegant and put together by hand, and that's exactly what you get. Paper packages, tied up with string, and interviews collected in an addressed envelope before being sealed with a wax stamp. It's a truly immersive experience, and one I can't wait to keep up with in the future.
With such a varied selection of subscription services available on the market right now, it's hard to find one that you know is sure to cater to your needs. If you're a fan of the genres on offer from My Chronicle Book Box, then you can't go far wrong. It would be fantastic to see them expand into further genres in the future, but for now, this is an incredible offering.
