The 'You Spin Me Round' hitmaker tragically passed away on Sunday (23.10.16) after suffering a "massive cardiac arrest".

His manager said in a post: "It is with the greatest sadness that we have to break the tragic news that our beloved Pete Burns of (Dead Or Alive), died suddenly yesterday of a massive cardiac arrest. All of his family and friends are devastated by the loss of our special star. He was a true visionary, a beautiful talented soul, and he will be missed by all who loved and appreciated everything he was and all of the wonderful memories the has left is with.

"We have no more words, we will make a further statement when we have had a chance to come to terms with our devastating loss. He will live forever in our memories."

Pete was born on August 5, 1959 and in 1980 he founded the band Dead or Alive, in which he was vocalist and songwriter.

In 1985 the group released the single 'You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)', which took 17 weeks to reach number one in the UK and went on to achieve global success.

Following the success of 'You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)' the band went on to have five further top 40 hits. After that the music may have grinded to a hault, but Pete's striking style and eccentric personality ensured he remained in the spotlight.

The star was previously married to Lynne Corlett from 1980, until they separated in 2006.

Shortly after he went on to enter into a civil partnership with boyfriend Michael Simpson and the pair had a Geisha-themed ceremony at the Royal Society of Arts in London.

One of Pete's biggest career moments was his appearance on 'Celebrity Big Brother' in 2006.

He reached fifth place and caused quite a stir on the UK reality show after claiming one of his coats was made of gorilla fur.

Throughout his life, Pete spoke openly of the many cosmetic surgery procedures he underwent.

It was in 2006, that he revealed he had 18-months worth of treatments to correct a lip job he had done which went wrong.

Pete says his obsession with looking good started when he achieved chart success.

He said: "I realised I was going to be a visual entity and that I had to look good. I had a broken nose. In the punk days somebody head butted me in Liverpool and it went over to one side.

"When you're young, self-conscious and standing in front of a camera and the photographers are whispering, 'Can we turn his head to the left?' you think, 'I'll do something about it.'"
