Baush + Lomb created this info-graphic for World Sight Day

Everyday around 100 people in the UK start to lose their sight - half of which are preventable. It's shocking isn't it.

To not have to wear glasses or contacts would be a dream come true for me, yet people every day are welcoming it with open arms.

Today is World Sight Day and I can only encourage you all and hope that you will all listen. Please book an eye test.

Current statistics suggest that by the age of 65, one in six people living in the UK will become blind or partially sighted, rising to one in 10 by the age of 75.

The loss of vision already costs the UK more than £20billion per annum.

As part of World Sight Day, which has been set up to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment, Baush + Lomb, the only global company solely dedicated to eye health, is working to address significant health trends in the UK.

More than 90 per cent of the UK population fear losing sight above any other sense, with vision impairment and sight loss affecting more than two million people in the UK today.

As well as raise awareness, today aims to influence governments and Ministers of Health to participate in and designate finds for national blindness prevention programmes.
