Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay has been arrested after fighting with paparazzi outside a nightclub. The 36-year-old British singer was leaving London's trendy Kabaret's Prophecy in the early hours of yesterday morning (12.06.09) when he lashed out at photographer Alan Chapman. Police called to the scene of the fracas handcuffed the 'Virtual Insanity' singer and took him into custody following an allegation of assault. Jay Kay spent ten hours in police cells before being released with a caution for common assault. Snapper Alessandro Copetti, who witnessed the incident, said: "He was steaming drunk. All the photographers were waiting for Lindsay Lohan - but Jay Kay thought they were there for him. "He screamed, 'I'm going to kill you all' and punched Alan in the face. He knocked his glasses off and kept punching and kicking him. When the police turned up he yelled, 'I pay your wages. You live in poverty you miserable f***s.'" This is not the first time the singer, real name Jason Kay, has clashed with paparazzi.

In 2002, he was involved in a brawl with a photographer at the London premiere of 'Stars Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones'.

In 2001, earlier a photograph claimed the star assaulted him and smashed up his equipment outside another London club.
