Whitney Houston has left a Caribbean rehab clinic after completing a four-week treatment programme. The troubled star, who was ordered to undergo the intensive course by a Georgia court last month, left Antigua's Crossroads centre on Tuesday (19.04.05). The 40-year-old singer, who is married to soul singer Bobby Brown, has now been transferred to a clinic closer to the couple's Atlanta home to continue her recovery. Last month mother-of-one Whitney, who has admitted addictions to alcohol and drugs, checked herself into the Willoughby Bay clinic - which is supported by rock star Eric Clapton - a year after undergoing a similar five-day programme. In a brief statement, her spokeswoman, Nancy Seltzer confirmed that her client was seeking medical treatment - but gave no further details about her condition. She said at the time: "Whitney Houston has re-entered a rehabilitation facility today." The pop diva, who has been working on her seventh studio album, has endured a turbulent private life over the past decade that has often over-shadowed her award-winning music career.
In a revealing interview with US TV host Diane Sawyer two years ago, the pop diva admitted that she had experimented with a host of drugs but was committed to getting clean with the help of a spiritual advisor, telling fans "the party's over".
Meanwhile, husband Bobby Brown has spent a spell in prison for violating parole conditions and was arrested in 2003 after allegedly assaulting his wife.
