The 'If I Had You' hitmaker has revealed he is "collaborating with some great people" on a new project and he has teased it is "pretty diverse" musically.

Speaking on Nova podcast Brenda, Call Me! With Courtney Act and Vanity, he shared: "With this musical I got paired up with amazing songwriters so I’m approaching it sort of like a pop album, but it’s still a musical. I can’t say too much right now because we haven’t really announced what it is or how it’s going to be, but I’m collaborating with some great people, I can tell you that ... it definitely is rock and roll, though! Musically it’s pretty diverse, but it’s the life story of an actual person and it’s not me! And the majority of the story takes place in the 70s."

Meanwhile, Adam previously revealed he wants to get into acting.

The 'Ghost Town' singer - who shot to fame as a runner-up on 'American Idol' in 2009 - said: "I would like to get more into the acting world. I think that would be really fun. And also, I’m starting to become interested in planting seeds in the creative space where it’s not necessarily for my own music, but to create other projects behind the scenes, to be a producer or a writer or a consultant. There’s definitely some stuff in the works. I’m getting geared up for that."

Adam needed to do some "soul-searching" to reignite his music-making mojo.

He said: "I’ve always liked to be an artist who gets to reinvent themselves a little bit. I like changing it up. I don’t like repeating myself and I don’t like following what other people are doing necessarily. I like figuring out what works for me. With this project, more than ever, I feel like I’m more in the driver’s seat."
