The 39-year-old singer is father to 19-month-old Dusty Rose and two-month-old Gio Grace - both of whom he has with his wife Behati Prinsloo - and has said that he'd much rather have two daughters than a son, as he "loves" being a dad to his little girls.

He said: "Awesome. Girls are better than boys. I didn't think I was going to [love fathering daughters,] but I love it. I always knew it was going to be the way - I knew I was having girls.

"I've been saying it for 20 years because, you know, past lives and transgressions. I'm going to have to work through that. I'm a dead man in 15, 16 years, it's over for me. So, that's my fate."

The Maroon 5 frontman also spoke about his time working as a judge on 'The Voice US', as he credits the show with teaching him how to be a mentor, and therefore helping him along his parenting journey.

Speaking to 'Entertainment Tonight', he said: "I wasn't a parent before I did ['The Voice']. I didn't have a wife. I was just a loose cannon, living in LA, being crazy. I think 'The Voice' was one of the first times that I had a platform where I could help people out or play a role [as] a mentor. So, it did help me, indirectly, in what inevitably became being a parent, for sure.

"You realise you have things you can share with other people. It's not so much paternal, [but] you realise your whole life you've lived up to this point, you now have things you can reflect on and help people. That's cool. I think that helps with parenting, somehow."

Meanwhile, the 'Sugar' hitmaker recently said that whilst his tots are his main priority, it's also important for him and his wife to take time for themselves too.

He said: "I call it like the A-Team. The A-Team has to be fresh, functional, relaxed and happy to deal with the B-Team, which is your children. A-Team is your other person, this is my girl ... we have to be ready for you. If we're not ready for you, the A-Team is not ready for the B-Team, we have problems, no one's going to have any fun."
