The 36-year-old blogger, who recently revealed that she was expecting a girl, took to Instagram earlier this week to celebrate the "milestone", after the couple's gruelling journey to have a child which has seen them suffer five miscarriages.

Nikki wrote on the image-sharing platform: "I officially feel like I have a chance of holding you in my arms, my sweet girl! It's really happening, happy 6 months pregnant @alexreidofficial (sic)."

She also pointed out how neonatal units have become more advanced for premature children, given their daughter a better chance of survival if she is born early.

Nikki said: "OMG everyone we have hit a huge milestone!!! 24 weeks viability! Well done baby girl! You are a fighter! At 24 weeks baby has a chance of survival if they are born.

"Most babies born before this time cannot live because their lungs and other vital organs are not developed enough. The care that can now be given in baby (neonatal) units means more and more baby born early do survive (sic)."

Nikki also urged females that have miscarried and struggled to have children to "never give up" on trying to have children.

She wrote: "Bump pic. This post is to all the ladies that have miscarried or who have failed IVF cycles and have been so low. You got this.

"Never give up! It may take months, it may take years. But NEVER GIVE UP my fertility warriors. It's taken me 7 years! I am loving pregnancy. Love you all (sic)."
