The 26-year-old model confirmed the news on Instagram as she shared a heartfelt tribute to her "beautiful" relative.

In accompanying images of the pair together, April wrote on the social media platform: "Last night I had to say goodbye to my beautiful Nina.

"I am beyond blessed to have spent so much time with her growing up. Most of my favourite memories were made at her house. She was full of life, love and so much laughter.

"Covid took one of my favourite people away from me. I am happy that she was able to come home last night and be surrounded by so much love. I will cherish that last hug & kiss forever. I love you so much my auntie Nina. (sic)"

April and her fiancée Robin Thicke recently celebrated having their COVID-19 jabs.

April quipped in the caption of a selfie of the pair holding their vaccination cards: "Couples who get the vaccine together, stay together."

She then crudely joked in the comments section: "Also fellas, getting the vaccine is BDE."

The pair did not disclose how they came to be called to have their jabs.

Meanwhile, Robin recently revealed that he goes to couples therapy with April and his ex-wife Paula Patton.

The 44-year-old star admitted talking things through with a "third party" has done wonders for his romance with April – with whom he has Mia, three, Lola, two, and Luca, three months – and explained that he attends regular therapy sessions with Paula, where they discuss the best ways to co-parent their 10-year-old son Julian.

The 'Blurred Lines' hitmaker said: "Therapy is not for everybody all the time, but it definitely opens barriers for us, even just to go once or twice. If you’re struggling in your relationship, one visit, one conversation with a third party can change things.

"Couples therapy has been great for me and April, and it’s been great for me and Paula in co-parenting. We’ve had a few sessions and it’s really helped for us, so I am a total believer in therapy."
