The Hollywood legend married the broadcast journalist back in 1986, but after 25 years of marriage, Maria decided she wanted to leave her husband after news spread that he had fathered his now 20-year-old son Joseph Baena with their housekeeper Mildred Baena.

However, despite being apart for six years, in an interview with Harvey Levin for Fox News' 'OBJECTified' - a show which looks at the lives of celebrities - it was revealed the couple still haven't officially separated.

When Maria filed for divorce their two sons Patrick, 24, and Christopher, 20, were both minors, but now they are both adults so custody isn't an issue, TMZ reports.

Schwarzenegger has also has daughters Katherine, 27, and Christina, 26, with his estranged wife.

It's also reported that the couple currently don't have a prenup, and during their 25-year marriage they amassed a $400 million fortune.

The actor previously admitted he wishes he could go back in time to stop himself having the affair.

The 70-year-old actor's marriage to Maria broke down when he admitted he had had Joseph with Mildred, and while he knows he can't change the past, he is still trying to move on from his mistake.

Speaking last year, he said: "You do think about it every so often. And I can beat myself up as much as I want -- it's not gonna change the situation. So the key thing is, how do you move forward? How do you have a great relationship with your kids?

"You can't go back -- if I could, in reality, be Terminator, of course I would go back in time and would say, 'Arnold ... no.'

"You know, it's always easy to be smart in hindsight. That's not the way it works."
