Benedict Cumberbatch and his girlfriend Sophie Hunter are now engaged.
The actor is said to have popped the question to Sophie but the two haven't yet set a date for the wedding.
News of the partnership was revealed in the Births, Marriages and Deaths section of The Times newspaper, with the notice reading: "The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katharine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London."
Benedict and Sophie were first linked when they were seen watching a match of tennis together.
Sophie's mother Katharine was questioned about the romance in the summer and simply replied: "Watch this space."
The pair were recently seen at London's Quaglino's, but arrived separately, keen not to be photographed with one another.
They first met when starring in opposite roles in 2009's Burlesque Fairytales.
Just a year ago, Benedict had insisted he wasn't in any rush to get married, saying at the time it was a "wonderful thing to get married young and become a father.
"I used to think that I'd get married by my mid-thirties and have children.
"But now I think I can wait. I'm no longer in a hurry to get married."
