The 18-year-old singer has compiled her favourite festive hits for a special Apple Music 1 show titled ‘the holiday edition’, and has insisted there’s no recent tracks in sight for the show because she isn’t a fan of any “new Christmas songs”.

Whilst introducing ‘Santa Baby’ by Eartha Kitt, she said: “Oh, let's do some Eartha Kitt. This is a classic. Everybody knows this song. Everybody knows all these songs. This is not … I told you this is nothing new. I don't really care for any new Christmas songs. Any of the more recent ones.

“I don't know what it is. I just really have a feeling of loving the classics, and the old ones. For me, if I'm having a Christmas dinner or whatever - even though we can't have those this year - and I'm making a playlist, it's always classics and old songs. Always. There is nothing new in there.

“Anyway, that has nothing to do with anything. But I'm going to play ‘Santa Baby’, which is everybody's favourite Christmas song. Eartha Kitt is amazing. I think she's incredible. This is Eartha Kitt, 'Santa Baby’. The best version of them all.”

And Billie also admitted she struggled not to make her entire playlist songs by Frank Sinatra, as she credited the iconic singer as “one of [her] all time favourite artists”.

She added: “I really had to force myself not to make every single song in this playlist Frank Sinatra. And even though I tried, let's see how many are Frank Sinatra in here. Not too many, but more than any of the other ones.

"At first, I had like 20 as Frank Sinatra and like six as other people. Frank Sinatra is one of my all time favourite artists. He is just so legendary and unbeatable, I feel like, indescribable, all of the above, and his voice is just magic to me and always reminds me of Christmas. So yeah, let's get into some Frank Sinatra.”

The ‘bad guy’ hitmaker did include one new festive tune though, in the form of her own brother Finneas O’Connell’s latest song, ‘Another Year’.

Introducing the song, she said: "My brother just put out a Christmas song, called ‘Another Year’. I love the song. I think it's so beautiful. The lyrics are so perfect. I think it's such a well said thing. I remember the first time he played it for me and I was like, that's cute. Pay attention to the lyrics, in the first half especially. But the whole song, he is a genius lyricist. So this is my brother Finneas, ‘Another Year’.”
