The 'God Gave Me You' hitmaker - who split from his former wife Miranda Lambert last year after four years of marriage and is now dating Gwen Stefani - says he has no problem singing about his heartbreak on his new EP as "everybody else is cashing in on my life".

Speaking to DJ Bobby Bones, he said: "I just want to tell the truth about what happened. I had a similar [thought], 'What if I tell the truth?' So I was like, I can't use the word truth now so ... I figure since everybody else is cashing in on my life, I might as well get some of that too."

Meanwhile, the 39-year-old singer previously insisted his album won't be full of "juicy details" about his marriage break up.

He said: "It's not like there's all these juicy details [in the record], but [country music] lends itself to emotions and things that you go through when you go through a divorce and, more so, the getting over that and moving on and finding someone else.

"The last year and a half of my life has literally blown up in my face. That's OK because I'm a country singer, and I at least get to take all that and put it into music ..."

Meanwhile, Gwen has taken a similar approach to Blake, documenting her split from ex-husband Gavin Rossdale - with whom she has Kingston, nine, Zuma, seven and Apollo, two - on her latest album.

She shared: "What's so crazy is that sometimes tragedy, if you really absorb it, you can turn it into something beautiful.

"And this whole album is about trying to take something that's awful, and just, I don't know, healing from it and then turning it into something beautiful."
