The 84-year-old actor explained that his wife Hildegarde Neil, 81, has managed to beat both illnesses in recent months, and he's sure that the UK will eventually overcome the coronavirus crisis, too.

He said: "My wife Hildegarde, she had cancer at the beginning of the year, she had gone into recession, she beat that, then she got Covid, then beat Covid.

"For God's sake we are going to make it."

Brian also revealed he'd like to put all politicians on a Scottish mountain where a giant would terrify them.

The 'Flash Gordon' star told a Daily Star Facebook Live event: "I'll tell you this about Scotland, it's God's country.

"You want to get over some of the politicians, as a mountaineer who has been up Everest and all of that, I want to take them up Ben Macdui in the Cairngorms, where there is a giant there who is 12 and a half 15 feet high who appears now and again and scares the s*** out of mountaineers.

"I want to take all the politicians and take them up there. Full of doom and gloom all the time. Shut up! The world is much more cheerful - much better than that."

Brian is even keen to challenge Russian President Vladimir Putin to a fight, and he's confident that he'd win.

The actor - who was a keen boxer in his youth and has trained in judo - said: "I always wanted to maybe challenge him on judo because me being a blackbelt - even though I am 84 - I would take him apart ... I would love to take him on."
