Channing Tatum's dad had no idea he worked as a stripper until he saw him give Ellen DeGeneres a lap dance on TV.

The 37-year-old hunk spent a brief period working as an exotic dancer before he became an actor and whilst guest hosting 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' on Wednesday night (01.11.2017), Channing revealed his father wasn't best pleased with his secret vocation.

Recalling to Ellen his first appearance on her 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' in 2010, Channing said: "That was my very first time on your show and I got to let you know that that was the very first time that my dad actually found out that I was a stripper for a short time."

After seeing the video of his first appearance on the show, Ellen said: "Wait, your dad didn't know you were stripper until that day?"

Then, Ellen asked: "How did he take it?"

To which Channing replied: "Not well, really really not well."

Channing has drawn on his past life as a stripper as inspiration for the 'Magic Mike' movies and the newly launched 'Magic Mike Live' at Hard Rock Las Vegas, but previously, the Hollywood star insisted he has no desire to return to the stage.

Speaking last year, Channing said: "I don't miss anything about stripping. I stripped in Tampa for like 25 girls, at best. It wasn't glamorous whatsoever, so there's nothing that I miss about stripping. This isn't stripping. This is a show."

The 'Step Up' star - who has four-year-old daughter Everly with his wife Jenna Dewan - also revealed why he decided to create a live show based on the movies in Vegas.

He said: "People in general are coming because they know the movies and they think they're going to get something like they saw in the last film, and they're going to get all that.

"But I think they're going to get something else. We don't do live shows. We don't do that. With this, we didn't have any rules so we just started creating crazy s**t and no one told us that wasn't allowed.

"Vegas is almost like an altar. People come here to release. It's kind of like church. They release all their worries and get crazy ... This is as good a place as any to do something crazy."
