The 35-year-old model was initially thrilled when the US leader started following her on the platform earlier this year, but she's now explained why she subsequently asked him to change his mind.

She said: "The second it happened, I was like, 'Oh s*** ... I don't believe he's like Trump and actively strolling through, but it was so amazing because for years I'd been actively shunned ... but then it became too much."

Chrissy - who is married to music star John Legend - started to receive unexpected attention from "a bunch of weird people" after Biden followed her on Twitter.

But now, her life is "much better".

She told 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon': "When you're on that list, a bunch of weird people go to his account, and they don't know you at all, so they go, 'Who's this chick?' Then they come to my page and it's just a hell hole. So life is better now."

For a short while, Chrissy was the only celebrity Biden was following on Twitter.

And after being informed of the news, Chrissy tweeted: "OH MY GOD !!!!!!!!!!

"my heart oh my god lmao I can finally see the president’s tweets and they probably won’t be unhinged (sic)"

Chrissy - who has more than 13 million followers on the platform - jokingly added: "I should prob never tweet again (sic)"

The model was an outspoken critic of former President Donald Trump and her Twitter account was blocked by the ex-'Apprentice' star.

But before Biden officially took charge, she urged him to unblock her on Twitter.

She wrote: "hello @joebiden I have been blocked by the president for four years can I get a follow plz (sic)"
